Heres some tips to help you post in the classifieds section. Using them will allow your item to have a better chance of selling and help potential buyers understand what they are buying.

SPACE OUT WHAT YOU ARE SELLING

*Dont jumble all of the items you are selling into one paragraph. There are multiple sections for you to post in, so post accordingly.

*When listing your items, enter them in a new line. When you post like this

Quote :
for sale i have a muffler, a spicer transaxle, and a few idler pulleys

its confusing to read. Instead, space them out into a new line with a breaker in between. For example

Quote :
For sale, I have:

1x muffler

1x Spicer transaxle

3x idler pulleys

LIST PART NUMBERS OR COMPATIBLE PART NUMBERS (when possible)

*If your item has a part number on it, list it! A lot of times when people pook for parts, they look for the part numbers. If the part doesnt have a number, list the model of the engine or tractor it came off of. If its a multi-purpose item, like a tire, list the size.

SPELLING AND GRAMMAR

*I think this goes without saying, but using correct spelling, punctuation, capitalization and spacing is everything. Not using correct grammar makes everything harder to read, and turns off potential buyers. Some web browsers, namely Firefox and Google Chrome, have built in spell checkers. If you dont know how to spell a word, Google makes a great dictionary.

LOCATION AND SHIPPING

*Not everybody likes to say exactly where they live, which is ok. A good way to help your buyers is to list your Country, State and ZIP Code. This keeps your location anonymous but allows people to judge distances for item pickup or shipping.

*List your item weight (if possible). Break out your bathroom scale and set each item on it and mark the weight. If selling parts that contain liquids like oil, gas and [excess] grease, REMOVE IT! The mail service doesnt like shipping liquids, especially if its flammable. In addition, removing such liquids will lower your ship weight. If you can ship the item Flat Rate, just remove the liquids as most Flat Rate services have an unlimited ship weight for domestic packages.

*If you pre-calculate shipping, it needs to be noted. If you dont, it needs to be noted. Remember, some members live in different countries so pre-calculated shipping may be wrong.

*Always be ready to ship. If your item is being sold, you should already have a box and packing ready for it. Dont be scrambling last minute to find a container to ship your engine! Also be sure to pack accordingly, because if you dont items are bound to be damaged.

*Tracking numbers help. If you get one, be sure to share it with your buyer. Also, adding insurance to high-cost items is a must. It will protect both parties against broken or stolen items in the mail.

PRICING

*Listing your item for offers is OK, but expect 'lowballs'. The best way to list your items is to put a price individually for each one. Putting "offers will be considered" at the top of your post in addition of prices will allow you to get offers closer to what you want.

*Dont be ridiculous on your prices. Check sites like eBay for similar items and price them as such.

CONDITIONING AND PICTURES

*Listing a descriptive condition will help get your item sold faster. Point out all the notable flaws like cracks, scuffs, scrapes, running issues, major wear, and other things that might hamper the use of the item. You dont need to pint out every scuff, but be as descriptive as possible.

*Taking clear photos in the daylight of the item will help, as people can see what they are buying. Otherwise, its a gamble.

REMOVE SOLD/ UNAVAILABLE ITEMS

*You sold something, and its out of your hair. Great! Now, you need to go back and remove the item from your listing. If your listing had multiple items, just delete the item off your list or put SOLD where you would have the price. If you only had one item, edit the title as SOLD and contact a mod to have it deleted.

*If you change your mind about selling an item, be sure to contact a mod as soon as possible to have it removed.

DONT LIST IT IF YOU DONT INTEND ON SELLING

*This will prevent confusion and keep the Classifieds clean.

*Do your research before posting. Be sure to find out your ship weight and shipping prices beforehand.

CONDUCT SALES THROUGH PMs

*Communicating through Private Messaging will keep your sale thread clean.

*It wont inflate your post count. Remember, when your thread gets deleted, your post count will drop considerably if you posted in your sale thread a lot.

Hopefully this will help both buyers and sellers alike. Good luck!

If you believe something needs added, let me know and I will edit the post.
