I picked this bike up a couple weeks ago for free. It has a title and runs. Its a 1974 CB360. Its in rough shape and I plan to fix it up to run around on.

Ahh, how differnt the US is from over here. AM I right in thinking the title means it can be driven on the road? Does it need to pass any examiniation before it can do that? scratch

Inspections is a per state deal. Same as emission testing. Some states have no laws while others are harsh. In California they even have a law that non-op vehicles have to have some type of sticker. I would have to live in that state.

Over hear, if a car isnt going to be used on the road, you have to declare it SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) otherwise you can get done for it. I'd love to live over there, or at least in the non strict states. That way I'd have a huge collection of cars by now! Laughing

The title is basically ownership papers. The bike is registered with the state in my name. A title is needed for a license plate and insurance. Motorcycles do need to be inspected in Pennsylvania, its a safety inspection that inspects the tires, brakes, lights, horn, and other items.

The biggest thing with getting a bike like this for free is there is usually no title with them. Having the title will allow me to get it on the road easier. Makes it worth the effort to rebuild it. Other states dont have titles and its easier to get a title if one is missing.

Same goes for a vehicle bot from a scrap yard- you need a salvage title and even then they frown on that. Some people actually buy a junked good vehicle with a vin ( vehicle id number - on the drivers side dash area) to fix a scrapped vehicle w/o a title - altering the vin make might police suspicious tho ( thinking its stolen) - so most use the shell on a good frame.

Bike looks in decent shape - would be worth fixing up and saving some gas.

I have been riding motorcycles for over 16 years now. I have had my license since I was 16, Smile

This defiantly isn't my first bike, I had an 81 Yamaha 650 Special, 82 Yamaha 750 Maxim, and now this. I'm currently riding my dad's 2005 Honda Shadow back and forth to school to save gas.
