Took the back wheels off and removed the turf treads. Welded up the egged out bolt holes. Replaced the lower crank seal. Hopefully, I'll soon have the atv tires mounted.

Thanks for the comments on the pics. Check out the extra ground clearance.
Simplicity - Simplicity System 5010 Off Road Adventure Thread - Page 4 Img_3429

They're a little bigger than I thought they would be, maybe some new front tires at some point would level things up a bit. Rear fender is just sitting on the wheels for this pic, needs to be jacked up with some spacers now.

Not that I'm a total sissy or anything, but why don't spiders this big just hang out in the woods or something?

I don't know, I was thinking about maybe using some extra sears 8 inch rims I have. The tires are fairly thin, might be tall enough, not sure. I'd like to try to keep them tucked in close to the machine so they don't stick way out past the rears. I still didn't get back to jacking up the seat with risers yet.

Nah, I can't get back to the darn thing. One of these days I've got to make up some risers to jack that seat and fender up. Still looks good sitting in the shop when I walk past it, even if it is in the way where it is... We'll get er eventually.

It's back in the shop. Mainly because I'm going to steal the front wheels off this thing for my 2015 build off machine. There's what an 8" sears wheel looks like on there. Only slightly taller, but about as much as you can get without cutting the foot rests out of the way. Unless I limit steering travel. It'll need a washer welded onto the spindle to keep the tire from rubbing on the steering, the rim center is a bit different.
Simplicity - Simplicity System 5010 Off Road Adventure Thread - Page 4 Img_3813

Got 3/8th bolts long enough that the threads are clear of the hole. That way they won't crush down and all that. I'll tighten em up and tack weld the nuts on so they can't come loose.
Simplicity - Simplicity System 5010 Off Road Adventure Thread - Page 4 Img_3811

Time to stack up some spacers, bolt this thing back together, and go beat the heck out of it.

Hey that's a great idea about jacking up the fenders. I was planning on hacking mine clear off. Maybe I'll see about this idea on mine. I'm plannin on running my 22x12x8 tires from my murray and they're not going to fit, not even close... Laughing

I could make them clear bolted in the stock position with these tires if I cut the edges out a little or bent them out. Easier to jack it up a bit though and you'll have more clearance.

If you mean didn't I already mention this...well I guess kind of. But I didn't have a tire test fitted on or have a cool picture of how much clearance there is between the fender and the frame. Or maybe I did, I can't remember. I don't think so. Even if I did, there's no way the pics were taken at the same exact angle. And besides all that, what work? Hardly any work has been done... Let me just check back a couple pages here.

(Edit: Yeah this post is way different than the last one. Before I was just sort of thinking about doing something, now it's getting serious, like I might actually get something done...almost...maybe...)

This raises everything up 1-1/4" Found some square tubing laying around finally.
Simplicity - Simplicity System 5010 Off Road Adventure Thread - Page 4 Img_3815

Stock risers on top of the box tubing. Just have to get some extra long bolts and hook everything back together, then give it a test run. Maybe the carb will be fouled up by this time, guess we'll see.

Pretty cool solution. I wonder how shifting will be effected. Seems that reaching down between my legs and even further may be a PITA. It already is. I'm thinking about extending the shifter upwards so I'm not bent over all the time trying to reach the shifter.

It's not too bad. I got it all bolted together and I think you barely notice a difference sitting on it. I stacked some giant washers on the spindles to space the new wheels out a bit and put the old collars back on. Should be good to go again. I had to pull the float bowl off and do a harf arsed cleaning job. Got all gelled up. Didn't think it was sitting that long but I guess fuel isn't too good these days. Got it running again anyway, but I didn't give the new tires a test yet.
