I should probably make one so im intrusted. Maybe drill holes in my garage floor and have bolts for a temp. stand. Started my v twin on a small metal platform and it revved out because i dumped gas down the carb and the hole thing twisted pretty quickly. Its on my v twin youtube video. Gets your attention

If you have an old mower chassis, you can set up a very cool test stand. Cut the chassis a foot or so behind where the engine mounts, and discard the rear portion. Remove the steering wheel and column, and weld the steering straight. At the back, weld a couple legs on, to hold the whole thing level. Put a couple of uprights at the back there, and affix some handles. Mount a spare fuel tank up there to gravity feed any engine you're working on, and a battery under the tank.

Presto- A fully equipped test stand that you can wheel around the shop.

I built a crappy little engine stand for an engine i had to test run. At the time i didnt have a chassis to mount it on. Ive used twp types of stands. One i built out of wood and its nice becaise i can easily throw holes in it with any bit or a whole saw if i need it big.

Only problem is that it split from vibration. But it still holds together because its nailed together on the same legs and what-not.

The other way is i have garbage picked a few push mowers and i like to use the rolling chassis for a mini engine stand. I raise the wheels up as high as they go and i just pick the thing up and put it on the bench. Works good for rolling around. Its a pain picking up an awkward stand with engine on it all the time.

Maby if im lucky enough ill be able to find a light aluminim lawn boy deck one day haha!

Stretch just drilled a hole through his workbench big enough for the shaft. His workbench is made out of old bowling alley.

I used one of these and just used roofing screws with the washer and rubber grommet to hold it down. In the future im just gonna drill a 2" hole in my workbench.

I built one a long time ago. I took 2 3/4in pieces of plywood about 16x24 and screwed them together on top of one another. Then put 4 2x4 legs on it by pounding nails down the the plywood into the 2x4.. It needs some work but it gets the job done and doesnt vibrate everywhere compared to metal.. I has a 2in whole i cut with a hole saw.

some 2x4s a couple pieces of 2/4 ply and youd be ok would absorb vibrations but wouldnt shake apart use screws and you can just take it apart and stow it in a corner for later
