I need to learn to stay off CraigsList. I wound up with two stripped down versions of this http://www.patentmodels1800s.com/soldorgone/mower.html without really meaning to.

Mine are red, and are basically the chassis only. Still as I looked at them in the pictures on CL, I noted a couple of things. First, they looked solid, and I mean Old School Hardcore Solid construction and design. Next I noticed, they had no Rust, save on one pulley. Oh, Grease fittings everywhere!

The price kept coming down the more I talked to the guy, so by the time I went to get one, I had both for a couple of bucks more than the asking price for one.

They have a Rear Diff (which I didnt expect) and the front axle allows the front wheels to move up and down (which I also didnt expect). The Trans seems to be F-N-R, which is fine. I could play with the pulley sizes to speed it up if the project (to be determined) needs it.

All in all, they seemed to be a solid foundation for *something*, with a simplicity I can appreciate. Now, what to make?

Speed build on one?

Not sure how well they would do for speed/off roading. Frame is odd.

Looks odd with no body parts but cool. Looks like a big go kart.

Yeah, it has no body whatsoever, so if someone who was good at body work wanted to be creative this would be great. However, I am NOT one of those people.

After showing one of these to some friends, and thinking about it; I'm going to turn one into my HD Trail\Utility tractor.

Its just so simple and well made, I'm not worried about the tractor ever breaking, just the stuff I might put on it later. Perhaps this will be my first Build off entry.
