Hi guys... My name is Scott.  I'm a retired career (30+ yrs) Paramedic and almost lifelong volunteer firefighter on the outskirts of Charlotte, NC (USA).  I became interested in mud mowers/all terrain lawn tractors mainly due to Doc Sprocket's videos (Sprocket's Garage).  He's been a great inspiration to me, along with a few others you guys are probably familiar with.
I haven't even started on my first build yet, but I HAVE been collecting lots of ideas from Doc and a few others.  I have acquired an older Craftsman that needs a LOT of work (mainly cosmetic- It RUNS! LOL), AND a  Troy Bilt Bronco that hasn't run in years and in my estimation, probably needs a new engine or at least a repower of some sort.
I was especially interested in Doc's VERY SENSIBLE, weldless method of locking most Peerless transaxles.
I'm an "infant" welder, with pretty great aspirations for personal projects and also a newbie woodworker.
I'd like to hone my welding skills (will be doing flux core wire until I can get fully set up for MIG). I'm fascinated with fabricating things for my upcoming builds.
I don't own a camera other than the one on my smartphone to do videos, but I hope to get one before long and possibly do at least a few videos during my builds.  In the meantime, I can at least post some pics, I guess...

I appreciate being allowed to join this forum and hope to learn a lot more from the pros... :-)
Thanks to all of you for having me here... Super-glad to be a part!

Please bear with me while I learn how to navigate this site... Thanks! :-)

Thank you! I'm hoping this experience will lead to learning a lot, expanding my horizons, and making at least a few new friends.
My current tractors will hopefully at least serve to get me acclimated to how things work (and don't- lol).
What I hope to eventually build (at some point at least), is a Sears (Suburban)/Simplicity/Ford/etc. with a horizontal shaft engine. MAYBE even a diesel... but we all hafta start somewhere, right? lol

Welcome to ATLTF! Doc is a great mind in our world of lawn tractor modification, he's inspired many of us! Good luck, make sure to start a build thread! Can't wait to see your ideas!

Welcome! Welcome!!

I did the weldless doc locker.  The key is getting the right sized weld on hub and being SUPER patient!  It took me 2 trys to get it right.  I ended up having to order my hub online to get the right size.  The one at Tractor Supply was just too small.  I think I got mine from:

http://www.rollerchain4less.com/HUBX34--X-Series-Weld-On-Hub-34-Bore_p_1564.html  But that is if you have a 3/4 axle!

Also, cell phones today have great quality images and video these days.  Tip:  Hold the phone sideways to take a picture or video.  It looks better on the screen!

Good luck!  It can be really fun modding these little tractors!  My only downfall is I don't have a buddy to share the fun here where I live.  Also, down here with all this red clay it can be a bit hard to not get stuck in this sticky stuff!
