Anyone know the conversion chart going from a CC to Cubic inches, like on vehicles now they'll say its a 5.7 liter, it's also a 350 cubic inch,
5.0 is 302
5.2 is 318
... So my goal is I want to know the displacement of my 160cc suzuki engine in Cubic inches just because ... Lol

This works too.
formula is: cc ÷ 16.387 = ci.
cubic inches x 16.387 = cc.
so 160cc = 9.76383718801489cc

Chevy did the same thing. The 5.3 is known as a 327 but is actually a 325.

I think that companys just use cc's becuse they make the engine sound like it is larger than it acctully is.

Everything is going to metric, you don't see 350 badge on a 1500 anymore..., it'll be like 5.7 liter on the back, everything automotive related is slowly converting to metric considering the U.S. Is the only country using standard lol

My coworkers and I had a discussion about measurement standards the other day... metric is apparently superior due to its ease of conversion between levels, but there is just something that makes sense about measurements that are based on things people are familiar with (foot is approx the length of a man's foot, yard is a typical stride).

Surprised there is not a metric measure of time in use... the 60 seconds, 60 minutes, 24 hours, 365 days seems awful imperial.

I can deal with time, but i agree metric is a lot easier to use mentally.

CC's to Cubic inches Empty
PostSubject: Re: CC's to Cubic inches   CC's to Cubic inches Icon_minitimeJanuary 27th 2014, 8:34 pm

The simple, tried and trusted formula I use is as follows:
to get cc from cuin: cubic inch [say, 12 for avg 5-6hp engine] x 16.4 = 196.8cc
to get cuin from cc: cc [say, 456 for a B&S 14.5hp] ÷ 16.4 = 27.804cuin

CC = CUIN x 16.4
CUIN = CC ÷ 16.4
