Fixed your pics, kinda.

Looks good. Only worries I would have is rear weight with the axle so far up front, it might tip to the rear.

Actually, moving the weight of the axle/tires/wheels further forward, makes the overall effect less tippy toward the rear.

can you elaborate on that? unless im stoopid, you want the rear axle as far back as possible, without compromising the wheelbase, making you bottom out. if you have too much weight behind the rear axle, its going to just do wheelies, especially if there is weight on the flatbed

i must be stupid to, cause i would thing that a Longer wheelbase would stop the tipping, damn, i reckon i did mine wrong,

Must be a whole lot of stupid going around, then. Cuz I obviously got some on me, too.

What I saw in the pics was a tractor frame with a long extension on the front.

If you take a tractor, with the rear axle in the normal place... Put an extension on the front, and move the front axle out there... You have more weight out front, and less chance of a wheelie.

Sounds like that is not what is happening in the pics???

I don't think there was any "stupid" involved at all. I think it is just a matter of we all got different pictures in our heads, when we read the description, and saw the pics. LOL

My own misconception probably comes as a result of not thoroughly reading.

This is a crude drawing of what I pictured in my head:
troy built 4X6 flatbed ratrod That10 Add some frame, to the back, to support the second axle. (4x6) Then add some metal to the front, to support putting the ladder out there, which I assumed was to move the axle out there.

This... Would definitely not be more prone to flipping backwards.  Wink Very Happy Very Happy

Now that I re-read the title, and look again at the pics, it looks like the 'ladder' is on the back, and that fits with 'flatbed' in the title.

If that ladder is going to hang off the back, as a flatbed, then I agree... you need to put another axle back there, or it will always be on the ground. Not just at wheelie time.

This is what the picture in my head looks more like, now.
troy built 4X6 flatbed ratrod Now10
Could still be completely wrong...

The only thing i see is the distence between the rear tires may make it hard to turn. But i like it.

What happens regarding Ackermans steering angle when you have two rear axles? Which of the rear axle's centrelines do the steering arms point towards?
