So this is the 7th offroad/monster mower I have built and here is the lowdown. Peerless 820 locked, craftsman gen2 steering, BMI karts hubs, Goblin Customs lift kit, Dual spring clutch set up and much more. I gut them and weld like crazy. I hope you like it and I am still looking for some people to offroad with. I am not done yet but should be soon.

Thanks. I like mine to crawl so the bigger the pulley on the back the better. I keep the front stock. As for the suspension I designed it myself and so far it has proven to be very well built. Lifting it keeps things further off the ground especially vitals that are always being replaced. Not to mention the belts are about a foot/and a half? higher than a stock mower so that helps. I want to build one 4wd but I do not want to sacrifice the flexibility. I was thinking of a hydraulic front axle but they do not make them that small for a good price. drunken

I also noticed the biggest tires you can run on a stock mower with an 8 inch rim is around a 22inch. With a mower that is 5 lug and 12 inch rims you can run around a 26 but I have fit 27 inch. I like to have a lot of low end and for me at least it tends to help. I have seen a lot of sketchy builds when it comes to monster mowers. My buddy built this one and I lent him a hand from time to time. Its legit 4wd but it took a LOT of work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-96VJrC5M8

Nice lookin Craftsman, CraftsMAN. The grinch 2 1098998679

Just out of curiosity, do you have the tires filled to lower the center of gravity for stability?

No the tires are not filled. I am not concerned with the ride height as it flexes nice and as I lifted it I also widened the stance. One of the flaws with offroad mowers is that the transaxle sits to far forward. This is why the front end comes up a lot. I move the transaxle back about 2-3 inches toward the hitch and it provides a LOT of stability. This is my 7th monster build and I have one more (more for show) Bob Vila craftsman that I am working on now. The funny thing is that you do not need more than 5 inches of suspension lift to fit some huge tires. Anything bigger it becomes sketchy. You also want the front end to "float" so when you need both sides of the axle to flex it does.

I am a big guy and I originally thought I would tip something like that over. I realize now looking at your other thread that you are not making them sky high. As you said around 5 inches of lift and slightly slower speed. Not bad. The more I look at it the more I like it! The grinch 2 2731072446

I am 6'4 270 and I can hang off of the sides with not a tire moving off of the ground. I think they are more stable than a lot of the ATV's I have owned. I mean you need to be responsible with them but it keeps a lot of vital parts out of the mud, water.
