Cutting the original mtd pulley in half off and a TSC pulley with the right DIA will snugly fit on top. Just weld it top and bottom to the shaft. Note that you DO need a small spacer on tip of the shaft now due to the pulley being up higher. Belt tracton is drastically increased.

here is an easy way to get rid of those stupid carb silinoids! go find a push mower carb and take the bolt out of the bottom of the carb:

mods & tips Projec59

now you have to grind it down about 1/4", get the best gasket you have, take the silinoid out of your carb, and put this one in. this is what you would thake out:

mods & tips Projec60

this helps clear up your wiring and engine bay. you can also just cut the plunger off of the end of it if you want.

I took the pulley off and manually took the belt and put it in the "V" pocket. It didn't hug the belt on the sides, just on the inside flat part.

if you do a pulley swap and you can't get the right belt, or you are to cheap to buy a new one, just use idier pulleys to put tension on the belt

mods & tips Projec83

I did this to my brother's white (MTD) yesterday to, got to post how I did that too. mods & tips Icon_razz

when placing a double pulley clutch, try to get the flat pulley as close as possible to the trans pulley... more wrap around the pulley means less slippage. Be sure to place the clutch on the slack side of the belt.

to get some more speed without buying new pulleys or if you can't weld a pulley where the stock one is, get a long pulley bolt (craftsmans have them), a mtd stack pulley, and a 3/4" spacer that fits on the engine shaft. just take the stock pulley off and put on the mtd pulley upsied down with your spacer on top.next you put in the key the key should be halfway out of what used to be the bottom of the pulley. once that is in, you can tighten up the bolt and make sure that there is no binding or scraping. now it is time for the math. for every inch bigger you make the pulley, the belt needs to be three inches longer. if you are doing this to a varidrive you want to go four inches if you want it to stop. mods & tips Icon_lol
