Welding tips

I'm 15 and teaching my self to mig weld because no one in my family welds and my school doesn't have a weldin class so I'm takin tips from people to help me out and tell me what I'm doin wrong so if you have and tips for flux corded mig weldin feal free to tell me

Buy good quality welding wire, like Lincoln Innershield.

Quality wire, and check out youtube for great videos for beginners, theres tons.

Take your time, learn how to adjust the settings. The more wire you burn the better you get.

I think as far as modern day mig welding goes you can get the hang of it pretty quick. The cleaner the stuff is the better. But also as far as just burning some stuff together, sometimes it might look a little rough and still hold pretty good. Practice on all your "non critical" stuff first.

over this side of the pond, we call that gorilla welding, ugly but strong, it's all I do, self taught from you tube and redneck computer geek a few weeks ago

Find scrap and just weld it together.

i find that mower decks are good to work with, cause we always have a surplus of them, right? cut appart, weld back together
