Does anybody know a way to upgrade a Briggs and Stratton 12.5 charging system to better handle a winch. After using it for almost any amount of time it drains the battery and it won't restart if shut off. Upgrade charging system for winch. Image45

Thanks in advance!

so I should just add a pulley on the top of the engine like fearlessfront's pull start thing and make a bracket to hold the alternator on the side?

You could possibly do that but might have slippage issues if the belt doesn't wrap far enough around the pulley. I guess most of the time the clutch is engaged even when sitting in neutral, so that wouldn't matter too much.

well my thinking was that mudding with trucks alternators get killed all the time so put it up high so it won't get ruined. Does anyone else have this problem with winches on their mowers?
